Why the Buick Regal TourX Is the Perfect Car for City Families

luxury wagon reviewI’ll admit that before test driving the Buick Regal TourX I thought of Buicks as cars for elderly people or families living in the midwest somewhere. Man, was I wrong! The Regal TourX is a crossover vehicle with the comfort of driving a car and the versatility of an SUV. My husband and I loved driving it around town so much that we decided to take it on a real test and took it on a road trip to Nevada with our two-year-old son.

The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to install car seats. I guess this is how you know you are a mom because before you even get into the driver’s seat you are installing a car seat. Nonetheless, this was SERIOUSLY, hands down, the easiest car I have ever had to install a car seat in. The anchors are easy to find and readily accessible – no more trying to find those anchors smushed somewhere in the seat or trying to remember which way you attached the anchors when the time comes and you need to get the car seat undone. Plus, there was extra head space, so my son easily got in and out of his car seat without hitting his head on the ceiling

crossover buick regal tourx reviewThe inside of the car was also quite spacious, given its size. We had my son in the middle back seat, rear facing, and for about four hours during the road trip, I sat in the back with him, quite comfortably. I had plenty of leg room and enough elbow room to enjoy the drive. At one point, we even picked up my grandparents for lunch. All four adults felt the car was roomy. My grandpa was even able to get in and out without assistance.

Since my grandparents live in Reno, where it is hot, we noticed my son’s car seat sort of blocked the air flow to the back. It wasn’t a problem until five warm bodies were trying to get cool in a very hot climate at the hottest time of the day. The car probably didn’t actually take very long to cool down, but when it is over one hundred degrees outside, and you’re from foggy and cold San Francisco, it felt like it took forever. Note to self: use the self-starting feature on the Buick to get it cool before getting baby and grandparents into the car.

I was impressed with the amount of trunk space, too, and this really got tested when the grandparents kindly gave my son an awesome little power wheel roadster for his 2nd birthday. Had this been any other car, there would be NO way we would have been able to take this home for him, but we were able to fit the present in the back and maintain plenty of passenger space.

We loved all the bells and whistles that the Regal TourX comes with like the back up camera, changing lane warnings, dual air control (big plus here), steering wheel control for radio, and phone charging stations in an air controlled console that displayed our music, maps, and apps on the car screen while charging our phone.

Overall, when I think of the Buick Regal TourX, I think of attention to detail. After spending so much time in the car, I really appreciated its design and the features meant to make my ride more comfortable. I could go on and on about all that I liked in this car, but you’re better off just getting in one and finding out what I mean for yourself!
