Cats get a bad rap and people usually have a love/hate relationship with them. However, if you are a cat in the Merryn family home, well then it is all about the love!
First there was Bailey, a celebrity cat with thousands of followers on social media and his own book. Unfortunately, Bailey passed away at age 14 and the Merryn family wasn’t actively looking to get a new cat. After all, would there even be another cat that would let the three girls push him around in a stroller, pose for photos, and basically be their permanent playdate?
Turns out, there was another cat and that cat is Carrot. A social media star in her own right (275,000 and counting on Instagram) and now her own book, Diary of the Cat Named Carrot.
If you are unfamiliar with Erin, she was named Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year in 2012 and a People magazine Hero Among Us for her tireless work promoting Erin’s Law nationwide with a mission to our keep children safe by educating them about personal body safety.
Watch the whole interview to understand why Carrot has been instrumental in helping Erin reach a wider audience in which she is able to get others to learn to advocate for Erin’s Law, nationally and internationally.
For me personally, I have know about Erin’s work in the field of child sexual abuse prevention for years so this interview was even more special. And as we kick off child abuse prevention month for April I encourage you to learn more about ways that you can help advocate for the safety and wellbeing of every child.
